Spare and wear parts, tools, machines and components are used for different tasks and in different industrial sectors. Components that often need to be replaced are tools, molds and dies for hot and cold forming or forging. Other assemblies that often need to be replaced are spare and wear parts for moving or transporting bulk goods or masses, weighing them, loading and unloading them, dosing them, crushing them, mixing them, pressing them, extruding them, classifying them, separating them, drying them and much more.

In these areas, unplanned failures such as damage caused by corrosion, wear and/or foreign substances often result in a short-term need for new parts such as molds, tools, attachments, shafts, worm shafts, sleeves, troughs, chutes, linings and much more. This mostly unplanned failure inevitably leads to short production times and, in the worst case, to production failures. These unplanned downtimes are not only very costly and stressful in the futures business, but above all they are avoidable.

In addition to the coating or capiFit service, capilla also provides a special capiReverse service specifically for the above mentioned areas.

capiReverse service is a collective term for a service that specializes in manually and automatically returning components to the CAD system – mobile, on site at the customer’s premises or at capilla in the factory. Before the actual reverse engineering, as with RetroFit, there is a careful inspection and measurement of the individual worn components.

This includes, among other things, an exact inspection of the material composition and layer thickness measurement of the base body using mobile spectral analysis and the inspection of dimensions such as fits and contours etc., manually as well as with various mobile 3D scanning systems.

Back in the office, the data is automatically fed back from the scanner to the CAD system and, if necessary, design drawings for in-house production can be derived from it and properties can be significantly changed or known weak points in the new design can already be improved.

Afterwards, all information is summarized and production documents are derived for in-house production and for downstream systems.

Key advantages of capiRevers service are:

  • As a rule, reverse engineering costs around 50-75% of the cost of purchasing new OEM parts.
  • Damage does not have to occur in order to measure components, because downtimes for measuring and returning the components to the CAD system can usually be planned and taken into account in the production process.
  • Delivery times are often significantly shorter than OEM new part procurement.
  • Replacement parts are “as if they were made from a single piece” and have properties comparable to or even better than the (OEM) original spare and wear part.
  • Customer requests or changes can also be easily adapted and incorporated into the new design.
  • The wear and tear of the components can then be easily monitored with a 3D scan and wear and tear in general can be digitally measured, observed, documented, evaluated and, above all, counteracted.
